Ineligible Expenditure
As our grants are given using public money, there are some specific types of expenditure that are ineligible and our grants cannot be used for, unless explicitly stated in your grant agreement.
Summary of ineligible costs
If you are awarded a grant, your grant agreement will provide all the detail related to these ineligible costs. To help with your planning, before you apply, we’ve also summarised them here.
- Lobbying or political activity
- Entertaining or hospitality aimed at influencing policy
- Religious or political campaigning
- Gifts, fines, penalties or legal costs
- Interest payments or finance charges
- Costs for statutory duties or work already fully funded elsewhere
- Bad debts or compensation payments
- Depreciation or asset impairment
- Asset purchases or improvements, unless the grant is specifically for capital use
If you're unsure whether your project or costs are eligible, we can provide more advice at the full application stage.
