The Derbyshire HER is the definitive record available of archaeological remains, historic buildings, and cultural landscapes, in addition to records of all known archaeological surveys, excavations and other fieldwork carried out in the county, reports for which are kept in our digital library. It underpins and informs the advice given by the Planning Archaeologist and is an important resource for anyone curious about our historic environment. Held and curated at Derbyshire County Council, the county-wide coverage includes the City of Derby and that part of the Peak District National Park within Derbyshire. It contains over 20000 records detailing the area’s rich heritage from prehistory to the Cold War. New information is being added to the record all the time.
