Historic England Research Records

Historic England Research Records are derived from the National Record of the Historic Environment (NRHE) and encompass approximately a century of research undertaken by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (RCHME), English Heritage, and Historic England. The collection provides a nationally significant record of the non-designated historic environment, covering archaeology, historic buildings, maritime heritage, aircraft losses, lost heritage assets, and evidence of archaeological potential. It should be noted that responsibility for recording marine heritage transferred from the NRHE to the Marine Historic Environment Record (Marine HER) in September 2025. As a result, marine heritage data within Historic England Research Records is current only to that date.
