Archive Image Access: Service Update

Archive Collections Search preview images are now displaying on records as expected. Items showing as not available are not held digitally. For information about accessing these items, please see Archive services.

Aerial Photography Explorer preview images are now displaying on records as expected.  

The third-party service that we used to display Archive images on our website has ceased trading and entered administration and we can no longer display full-screen and zoomable images.

The introduction of preview images allows us to maintain a level of service while a longer-term solution is developed. As this will require significant technical work, it is likely to take many months to implement.

Images of England images on the National Heritage List for England are not being replaced at this time, and we will be looking at options for this in the future.

We would ask that you hold back from contacting our Archive team about this issue, as all the up-to-date information is on this page, which we will keep updated.
