Alert message
An alert message is intended to be a short and helpful message on the page, but not essential information. For example, telling the user about a problem that is affecting the service – IT issue/pandemic etc.
Intended purpose
The alert message should contain no more than 2-3 lines of text, as it is intended to be a short but helpful message on the page.
If you need to display more text with call to actions etc... you can use a callout.
How not to use the component
- Do not use the component when it’s not needed. Use an alert message sparingly as the more alerts there are, the more likely a user will miss them.
- A page should never have more than one alert message
- Do not use the component if the information is not helpful.
