Resistance, Recoverability or Adaptation Measures

There are three different ways to make a building more resilient to flooding, ensuring that it can continue to be used for the future.

It is important to ensure that all contractors working on a listed building or structure are briefed about health and safety matters, and also what they can and cannot do on a specific site. This is to ensure that a contractor does not decide to change a material or method on site without permission from the project manager and conservation officer.

Any amendments or additions to the original agreement, no matter how 'minor', should only be undertaken in consultation with the original specifier of the work (structural engineer, for example) and the local authority. If they are not consulted, it could result in inappropriate loss or alteration to the historic fabric. It could also result in prosecution.
