Accelerating Clean Energy Offshore

This is a significant, innovative two-year project on marine heritage information led by Historic England and endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade. The project forms part of the Offshore Wind Evidence and Change (OWEC) programme, led by The Crown Estate in partnership with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
MDEHA is gathering interpreted data from heritage professionals, derived from all forms of marine development within English waters from the last 20+ years, and depositing it in The Crown Estate's Marine Data Exchange and Historic England's Marine Historic Environment Record.
MDEHA plays a key role in speeding, improving and showcasing ways that heritage can contribute to delivering cleaner energy. The programme models long term seabed use like never before, exploring how we can meet future demands - like achieving net zero by 2050 and recovering the marine environment – under a range of scenarios.
