Accessing England's Protected Wreck Sites (3rd Edition)
Historic England is consulting on a draft revision to Accessing England's Protected Wreck Sites: Guidance Notes for Divers and Archaeologists, first published in 2010 and last revised in 2015.
The purpose of this guidance document is to support individuals or groups wishing to access and/or develop projects on wreck sites designated under Section 1 of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973 in the English Territorial Sea. The role of a voluntary Licensee and their team is essential to the system that helps manage the most significant historic wrecks in our territorial sea. A new edition of this guidance is now necessary to incorporate changes to the licensing system and to reflect various updates and changes in the regulatory system surrounding undertaking projects directed at protected wrecks in English waters.
